Wow! I haven't posted in a while...hello again! :) I guess we've sort of had a lot going on, and work has been really busy for me seeing as how the students came back a few weeks ago. They tend to bring chaos with them! Here's a run down of what we've got going on right now...
Matthew completed his last clinical internship on August 15. It was kind of tough to say good-bye to some of the kiddos that he was working with at CHLA. He could have readily had a job there, but the commute is just too long. He's currently in the process of applying to be a licensee applicant, at which point he is eligible to take the PT board exam. He's just sort of waiting to hear from them righ tnow. So he's been filling his days with studying and job searching (and maybe a little relaxing after 3 long years of school!). Please pray for God to lead and guide us in these coming weeks as we seek his plan for our immediate future. Stepping out into the working world has entailed a little bit more anxiety for Matt than I think he thought it would so pray that he would experience peace about wherever God is leading him and openness to follow in faith.
I started my fall term...already 3 weeks ago. Wow, time flies! I recently learned that I'll be doing advancements next term. Chapman U requires that students pass advancements before they "advance" to the practicum aspect of the program. Basically you receive a vignette and are required to sit before a board of professors and provide an assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan while addressing any ethical issues present. I guess this is something that's always been in the distant future, and suddenly...it's almost here. This means that provided I pass, I will be starting my practicum as an MFT trainee in mid-January. Chapman doesn't really provide us with any assistance finding a practicum site beyond the bare guidelines it has to meet, so I will have to begin my search right now because this has been a bit of a problem for some of my classmates recently. This is another area where I would appreciate your prayers!
So I guess that's the rather boring re-cap of what's going on in our lives right now. This weekend I'm going to a Women of Faith Conference with Matt's mom so I'm really looking forward to an opportunity to fellowship with other women and be drawn closer to my God in worship!
Please continue to pray for our nephew, Case. He starts physical therapy today so please pray for that to go well. Sometimes its so hard to know what to pray when it just feels like it hurts more than we can bear, and I just rest on the knowledge that the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf when we cry out to God! So even if we just cry out, he knows our heart and he hears our prayers.
