on my mind

1. I did not have to walk into the garage to get milk this morning! We finally bought a refrigerator yesterday, and i LOVE it! Also love my hubby for dissembling it to get it in the house while I took a 2-hour nap. It's one of those with the french doors on top and the freezer on bottom, and it will probably never again in my lifetime be as clean and tidy as it is right now.

2. The non-stretchy material maternity pants that I bought when I had that cute little I-barely-need-to-be-wearing-maternity-clothes-yet bump at 14 weeks are getting tight. OK who am I kidding, they're stinkin' tight :(

3. I am looking for cute, cheap nursery decor ideas.

4. I've been feeling overwhelmed and bombarded lately with all of the negative postpartum info in the books and in our LaMaze class. I was almost in tears when we got in the car last week, but I was too hungry to cry. I get that I need to learn about lochia flow and engorgement and sitz baths and intense sleep deprivation, but not once when these topics have come up in both of the books that I'm reading or our class has anyone mentioned anything about the sweet little bundle of joy that is going to make it all worth it. RIGHT?!? I get that this isn't going to be a walk in the park, but seriously?!? So all I have to say is screw you nay-sayers, I can do this. Then again, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't totally and completely freaked out about labor and delivery. Freaked out enough that I seriously don't need anyone or anything shoving postpartum horrors down my throat too. So if you're a mom and you want to set me straight because I sound delusional, please, just indulge me. Honestly, I'd rather not know.

5. I never realized what a sacrifice Matt makes driving the Tercel each and every day. I had it today because the check-engine light went on this weekend and he had to drive up to the high desert for work. IT'S HOT! And the AC finally kicked in about the time I got where I was going to meet my sister in law for lunch and I was about melted to the seat. I missed my Jeep!

6. 21 days til due date.

7. Matt starts football again this week and won't be home til almost 8 every night :(

8. The battle has begun at the Hoekstra house against the gopher in our front yard. We tried to smoke it out with a road flare yesterday. Matt had his golf club in hand, and the scene I was picturing in my head was quite comical. But the little bugger never emerged. Who knows, maybe it suffocated. One can only hope. No new holes this morning. Next we'll be waging war against the ARMY of gophers/moles in our back yard. It could be interesting. There are literally holes about every 2 feet in parts of the yard.

9. I miss my neice and nephew.

10. I'm turning the AC on when I get home.

11. We also bought a mower. Just add it to the list of purchases that go along with buying a house. Oy!

12. When you are 37 weeks pregnant and still working, and ANY kind of noise comes from your office, everyone will jump up and ask if you're OK. Trying really hard to focus on that it's because they care instead of getting irritated!
