Merry Christmas!!!

We celebrated the holidays with our small group in the beginning of December and had a rousing Rock Band competition! We celebrated Christmas Eve with Matt's family in Chino. Unfortunately I didn't get many pictures...but here's one of me and Meredith. (matt's sister)
My family flew in from Iowa and stayed at the Carlsbad Seapointe Resort. We had fun exchanging gifts at our house on Christmas morning (matt & I had Dani & Kelsey)
We got a web-cam from my parents so that we can chat online. I'm so excited to get this set up and be able to talk with my family more often. When my parents got married and spent one summer with my mom in Sheldon and my dad in Canada they wrote letters every week. Praise the Lord for cell phones and email and webcams!! It makes living far away from home a little bit easier!
All of the girls showed up on Christmas day wearing purple...totally not planned!!! It made for a fun photo-op!
We spent Christmas day with my family and Matt's family at the Hoekstra's house. It was so fun to have both of my families together! We played a lot of games...Liar's dice seen below...in addition to Blokus, Scrabble, Apples to Apples, Quiddler...you name it...Matt and I headed back down to Carlsbad on Friday and treated my family to a dinner they can't get in Iowa...Buca di Beppo...amazing Italian cuisine!! We had lots of food and LOTS of leftovers. Unfortunately dad had a migraine and had to go and lay in the van. But as you can see...Kelsey enjoyed it :)
On Saturday we went whale watching and towards the middle of the trip they spotted a whale and we followed him around for a while. It was a lot of fun, and truly amazing to witness this magnificent creature....God's handiwork! I was a little impatient with my camera and always snapped it too soon, right before his fluke came out of the water.
It was a little chilly on the boat, but a gorgeous day after a week of rain!

I was sad to say goodbye yesterday, but we enjoyed a wonderful week together! I couldn't have asked for anything more! We missed Ryan, Ashley, Adella, and Case but the enjoyed Christmas in Rapid City with Ryan's family. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. I had a hard morning this morning struggling with Case being back in the hospital again as of yesterday, and just the "fairness" of this whole situation. I clicked on my cousin's blog this morning, and usually the sound is turned off on my computer, but today it was turned up loud, and the song "Cry to Jesus" rang out. It says...Sometimes the way is lonely, And steep and filled with pain, So if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then Cry to Jesus, Cry to Jesus, Cry to Jesus and live! Sometimes the weight of this world is overwhelming, and I realize that I'm trying to bear it alone, but I have Jesus. And is love is so sweet. And it is more than enough for me.
