Sorry for the lack of posts lately....here's what's been up....
-On June 18 Matthew & I celebrated our 7th anniversary. He made me a sweet card that said something along the lines of - even with the challenges that marriage brings, I love your more each year. I couldn't agree more! It's true...our marriage isn't perfect, we have ups and downs. To be honest, this last year was probably one of the more challenging we've faced yet, often the challenging times are because of two things - when we fail to put Christ at the center of our relationship and because of our own pride and self-centeredness (at least I know without a doubt, that's the case for me). This anniversary was a simple and beautiful celebration of love and commitment to Christ. We ate Chipotle, held hands, explored Disney's new Car's Land together (on a scale of 1 to 10 it's a 12!!), and finished off the night whith the most delicious dulce split dazzler from Haagen Daaz.

-Our little smarty pants...you know the one who's not even 2 yet...has figured out almost every stall tactic in the book when it comes time for bed. She quickly learned that if she says "potty" her dad and I won't pass up this chance for fear of discouraging her to tell us when she has to go - and she usually does before bed! But not too long after that she often starts in with - "wah-ge" (water) - nice one Em! And the latest stall tactic is "soong" because I always sing her Jesus Loves Me before bed but lately she wants lots of songs! :) Last weekend we converted Emma's bed to a toddler bed (see potty training post!) Naps and bed time are sure to keep us on our toes with our little miss I-don't-wanna-miss-a-thing. Will let ya know how it goes!
-I get a whole month off in July! I can't wait to spend every single day with my girl. I will spend it trying to put thoughts of what is to come out of my head for a while. Things with my job are up in the air a little bit - a potential teaching opportunity is in the works but nothing is certain. At this point I may have to go back full time in August...something I am quite literally dreading. But one thing I do know is that God has always provided for us, and in this too he has me in the palm of his hand.
-We're going to spend a week at a beach house in Dana Point with Matt's family this summer. I'm looking forward to lots of rest and relaxation and I can't wait to take Emma to Sea World for the first time!!!
-Our girl is doing SO well with potty training (KNOCK. ON. WOOD.)! We're on our second day accident free this week (with the exception of nap time today...she fell asleep in the car and I didn't want to wake her when we got home.) She gets lots of reminders throughout the day and I'm more nervous for when we venture out of the house which we started doing a little these last two days. We were pretty much on lock down Monday-Wednesday afternoon. I have a MUCH more laid back approach this time around and it seems to be working well for both of us. For the last few months she's kind of been in what my cousin calls the "potty play" stage - pull ups and figuring out what this is all about. She would go anywhere from 1-3 times a day. Now we're in panties during the day...still using diapers for sleep. She's already earned one new Curious George book for filling up her whole potty chart with 20 stickers! As with seriously every parenting topic I've come across so far...I've learned once again that you have to do what works for you. Everyone's got an opinion on potty training and I've so appreciated all of the helpful advice I've gotten. But while Emma's young I know my girl, and she did a pretty good job convincing her dad and I that she was ready. (In fact, I was probably the one that was a little hesitant to dive in head first!) Anyways...when it comes to potty training my mantra is relax and remember they're not going to kindergarten in diapers!
Hope you're summer's off to a fantastic start. Blink and it's gonna be over!

Enjoy your time off!! Sounds like Emma is doing amazing. We just brought up our potty again to start the "potty play" part of the equation with ollie.
